Chairman's Welcome
The Riverland Field Days has become so much more than a giant horticulture and agriculture trade show. It is an informal, social and entertaining meeting of growers, traders, families, schools and media with visitors from all over Australia. It is two days that knit the whole community together.
Naturally we are also very proud of our trade show. We have close to five hundred exhibitors each year with thousands of products to entice you. It looks to be a hugh trade show again this year.
It is a lot of hard work for the exhibitors to set up but they know they are targeting a concentration of potential buyers and not advertising to all and sundry. The value of the field day exposure is there long after the event is over.
Riverland Field Days are more than bringing buyers and sellers together. For your entertainment we have extreme bike riding displays, extreme 4WD displays, school shows, fashion shows, cooking demonstrations, entertainers and activities for kids of all ages, sheep dog trials, dog obedience displays and much more. Something for everyone.
The Riverland Field Days is owned and operated by five local ag bureaux.
The Riverland Bureaux grew from the world financial crisis of the 1890s and have seen many highs and lows in agriculture over time. We are again experiencing a world financial crisis, compounded by the drought, but Riverland growers are among the most technically advanced, water efficient, and soil and environment conscious growers in the world and will be well placed as things improve.
The field days are an ideal venue to network with others, inspect the latest ideas and innovations and plan your future projects.
On behalf of the committee and the many volunteers that make the field days possible, I welcome you all to experience Riverland Field Days.
Stirling Sykes, Riverland Field Days Chairman.
